Do you believe in love at first sight? I do.
One
day while killing time in Taipei, I stumbled on a rack of postcards. But
these were no ordinary postcards- they were 3D cut outs of animals,
buildings, scooters, bots and humanoids. I bought a few as souvenirs
and after assembling them, found that I couldn't get them out of my
mind, much less part with them! In this day and age where nearly
everything is some sort of plastic derivative, I found myself strangely
attracted by the desire to cut and paste. When I had a finished model,
it was something more than just a toy. It was an accomplishment, albeit
a rather humble one.
Monkey Design is a creative, quirky, and
fun group of designers from Taiwan who express themselves mainly
through 3D paper models. Their perspective is unique and their designs
are universal. It is my pleasure to bring Monkey Design's creations to
the United States. I hope that like me, you'll fall in love with them,
assemble them, collect them and well, just have fun!
